This week The Daily Post’s photo challenge is to show companions so I couldn’t pass up the oprotunity to put up some pictures of my child-substitutes. My furry babies are Sophi (a 12 year old sharpei/boxer mix) and Xena (a 19 year old half siamese who is as big around as she is tall). Being a middle-aged disabled man I have spent most of the last several years alone trying to work my way through becoming disabled. Sometimes feeling sorry for myself. Sometimes being angry at the world. Most of the time being a bitter hermit. During my years of coming to terms with my disability and starting to rebuild my life my babies were always by my side. Sometimes they were the only ones that I could count on. Sophi has been my constant source of unconditional love. We watch TV together, work in the flowerbeds together, and she loves to go for rides in the truck. Xena loves me but in her own special cat sort of way. It is her house and she lets me have the pleasure of serving her. She shows me attention and loves on me to remind me that I need to feed her, fill her water dish, or change her litter box. Sometimes you just need to feel needed, it gives you a reason to get out of bed. She gives me that. Here are a few of my favorite shots of my little furry companions. I hope you enjoy them.
